SAA Autumn Horse Show Returns for Second Year - 11 June 2016

The Suffolk Agricultural Association is pleased to announce that following the success of last year’s Autumn Horse Show, this year’s event will be held on Sunday 11th September.  The Horse Show has been championed and organised by members of the Suffolk Show team and will, once again, be a fundraising event to support the SAA’s educational initiatives, principally the School Farm and Country Fair.

The first Show was very well received, attracting over 350 entries.  A good attendance on the day and generous support from sponsors resulted in £3,500 being raised. The School Farm and Country Fair is the SAA’s principle education event and aims to promote awareness of key aspects of food production, farming and the countryside amongst seven to nine year olds.  Children attend with their schools free of charge and it is the Association’s aim that every primary school child in Suffolk should be able to attend the event on at least one occasion.  The cost for schools to attend is free and they also receive a grant towards their transport costs.  4,500 children attend annually and is oversubscribed with a long waiting list.

The aim of the Autumn Horse Show is to give the local equestrian community the opportunity to ride in the ‘famous’ Suffolk Show rings.  The schedule has been created to give amateur riders, of all levels, a chance to compete with classes for showing, jumping, dressage and working hunters.  There will be qualifying classes including a Direct Qualifier for the Veteran Horse Society Supreme Final, Equifest, and the Side Saddle Association.  A number of fun novelty classes will complete the equestrian mix.  SAA members will also receive a discounted entry fee if entered before the day.

A review of last year’s classes, resulted in alteration to the schedule to offer more in-hand classes and Championships throughout the day with a supreme championship at the end of the Showing competitions.

The Schedule is available online on the SAA website, and  and other equestrian outlets and Shows across the county.  There are over 70 classes including showing, show jumping, working hunter, dressage, side saddle, miniature ponies and foreign breeds.  There will also be starter classes for novice riders, family ponies and children’s classes.

The organisers are extremely grateful to all the sponsors who have helped to make this event possible, particularly Gotelee Solicitors, who have supported the event as principal sponsor once again.

Entries close on 2 September and discounted entry fees are available until this date.  Late entries will be accepted on the day at an increased fee.
