Learn about Livestock
Learn about Livestock gives children the opportunity to experience farming first-hand, by caring for a ewe and her lamb(s) on their school grounds for an entire week. All the necessary equipment and briefing will be provided to the school before the week which is held in March. It's a unique, memorable and rewarding learning experience with a multitude of opportunities to link to the National Curriculum and bring learning to life.
The 2026 dates took place between Monday, 16 March to Friday, 20 March 2026. It was an inspiring week where six Suffolk primary schools discovered the vital role of livestock, engaged in their care, and fully embraced this enriching environment.

"We loved taking part in this project this year! 🙂
Brooklands signed up to give children a hands-on experience with the animals, whilst also immersing them and educating them about farming. The children loved engaging with the sheep and finding out lots of information about the animals and how to look after them.
We would absolutely recommend the project as we found it to be an enriching experience for our children here at Brooklands. Children of all age groups took part.
We had all of the support and information needed to successfully run the project. We contacted the farmers at one point, and they were very helpful
The children got lots from this experience and we, as a school, would love to take part next year too. 🙂" - Teacher at Brooklands Primary School
