Super sports to try for free at this year’s Suffolk Show Sports Village - 3 May 2017
Playing against an Ipswich Town football pro, free-falling onto an airbag or riding a dirt bike are just some of the free, interactive activities available for the whole family at this year’s Suffolk Show. The popular Sports Village area will be returning with more than 20 exciting have-a-go sports and challenges across the two-day event, on Wednesday 31 May and Thursday 1 June.
The Sports Village is visited by thousands of show-goers each year, with the opportunity to try out a variety of sports such as netball, tennis, running, boxing, CrossFit, fencing and cricket.
This year’s Sports Village promises to be ‘better than ever’ with fantastic opportunities including a chance to practice football skills with the Ipswich Town Football Club team and experience an exhilarating free-fall with Air Drop. Visitors can also test their balance with RU Slack rope walking, take part in a 50m cycling sprint with Suffolk Coastal Active Kids, and ride a dirt bike with Elmy Cycles. The British Racing School will also be there with their horse racing simulator and Kit Crew Camps will have an inflatable obstacle course for kids to try. Xplore and AFYA activity camps will be offering 30-minute tackle and rugby skills sessions with professional training equipment and specialist coaches.
Paula Slater, Tradestand officer for the Suffolk Show, said: “We are thrilled to have such an exciting, jam-packed range of fun activities for this year’s Sports Village – our biggest and best ever! As all activities are free in the Sports Village, we hope it will encourage children and adults of all ages to try something new, learn a new skill or perhaps find a new favourite sport. I definitely recommend spending some time enjoying all we have to offer.”
Each year the Suffolk Show offers a huge number of attractions for families, including traditional fairground rides, vintage tractors, donkey rides and Titan the Robot plus more have-a-go activities in the military and wildlife zones.
The Farm Discovery Zone is another popular area for families, with hands-on activities and games to help children learn about the journey from field to fork. Everyone’s favourite Tractor Ted will be there with plenty of interactive farming fun, as well as a bouncy castle and welly wanging competition. Children can see a cow being milked, prepare and cook a pizza, groom a pony and many other free activities.
